Photonic-enabled radio-frequency self-interference cancellation incorporated into an in-band full-duplex radio-over-fiber system

A photonic approach for radio-frequency (RF) self-interference cancellation (SIC) incorporated in an in-band full-duplex radio-over-fiber system is proposed. dual-polarization binary phase-shift keying modulator used multiplexing at the central office (CO). local oscillator signal and intermediate-frequency carrying downlink data are single-sideband modulated on two polarization directions of modulator, respectively. The optical then transmitted to remote unit, where signals split into parts. One part detected generate up-converted RF signal, other re-modulated by uplink self-interference, which back CO down-conversion SIC via domain adjustment balanced detection. functions SIC, frequency up-conversion, down-conversion, fiber transmission with dispersion immunity all system. An experiment performed. Cancellation depths more than 39 dB single-tone 20 20-MBaud 16 quadrature amplitude modulation achieved back-to-back case. performance does not have a significant decline when section 4.1-km incorporated.
